Day 1Arrival in Oman | Half Day City Tour

Sultan Qaboos Mosque at dusk, classical Medina architecture, Salalah, Orient, Oman (1)

Your guide will be waiting for you at Muscat International Airport, and the two of you will travel together to your accommodation. After recharging, set out on a half-day guided tour to learn more about the city’s sights and sounds. The first visit is at the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a gift to the people of Oman from the country’s late monarch. Anyone who is appropriately attired is welcome to enter.

The vibrant Muttrah Souk is located about ten minutes from the center of modern Muscat in the historic district of Muttrah. Here is the place to hone your haggling abilities. After an hour of meandering the streets, it’s time to get some sea air on the Corniche.

Your next destination takes you to the east, to the Bait al Zubair Museum, where you may learn about the history of Old Muscat.

Finally, relax at Bait al Luban at Al Alam Palace and indulge in some traditional Omani fare while taking in the sights along the corniche. Stop by the magnificent but private Al Alam Palace after supper on the way back to the hotel.

Day 2City of Sur| Ancient Oman

Bimmah Sinkhole: A vast and deep cave with a natural pool  must-see if you’re up for an early morning journey. According to folklore, it was formed when a star crashed on Earth. However, the pristine sands of Fins Beach are worth the extra distance if you choose to go swimming there.

Wadi Shab: Stop by one of the charming towns for a picnic. When referring to a valley, the term “wadi” is often used, however the word “oasis” also fits. The best method to see this wadi is on foot, and the walk won’t take more than 45 minutes. Discover its secluded cave and swim in its natural pools filled with refreshing water.

Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve: By the end of the day, you should have made it to Ras al Jinz and the Turtle Reserve. The endangered green turtle comes here at night to lay her eggs in safety. If you’re lucky, you can see the annual event of turtles laying more than 50,000 eggs on this beach. The months of May through August are prime time for turtle watching.

Second Overnight Stay: Hotel Ras Al Hadd Beach Holiday or similar

Day 3Wahiba Sands Tour

Wadi Bani Khalid:

Wahiba Sands:
Head out into a new landscape, the sand dunes of Wahiba Sands. The Bedouins are a nomadic Arab people who live in this beautiful desert. You will spend the night in their desert camp as honored guests. You can enjoy camel rides and other fun sand activities upon request. Enjoy a night out under the stars with a classic BBQ and good company.

Birkat Al Mouz Ruins:
The ruins at Birkat Al Mouz mark the beginning of your journey into the Ad Dakhiliyah Province. Lunch at Birkat Al-Mauz awaits after a two-hour drive into the mountains. The village’s hilly location makes it ideal for peaceful strolls.

Return to your vehicle and continue driving toward Jibreen Castle, your day’s final stop. Stop first in Jabreen and check out the castle there, built in the 17th century. At the conclusion of the day, retire to Nizwa for the night.

After lunch in Al Hamra, take a 45-minute drive towards the Hajar Mountains. You can have your meal in style among the mudbrick buildings of Al Hamra’s historic district.

Misfat al Abreyeen:
Misfat al Abreyeen is another genuine mountain village you should see. Take an hour to go about the neighborhood and get to know some of the locals.

Wadi Nakhr Canyon:

After that, you have an hour to spend off-roading in the breathtaking Wadi An Nakhr.

Driving to the peak of Jebel Shams, Oman, will be the crowning achievement of your day. You need to spend the night in a nearby mountain resort to properly appreciate the stunning scenery over there.

Bald Sayt:
Take a two-and-a-half-hour guided walk across this wadi and stop for a quiet picnic in the outlying village of Bilad Sayt. Spend half an hour exploring the area to soak up the weird vibes before making your way back toward Muscat.
